Where to meet us for your Keys flats fishing trip. Key Largo, Tavernier & Islamorada
Getting to the Keys is pretty straightforward. From the Miami International Airport, take 836 west to the Florida Turnpike. From the Ft Lauderdale International Airport, take 595 west to the Florida Turnpike. Continue south on the Turnpike to its end in Florida City (Homestead) The Turnpike will ease you onto US1. Be prepared for several tolls on the Turnpike.. A Sunpass is recommended. Continuing southward on US 1, you will travel through a twenty mile length of coastal prarie environment and marshland. In the Keys, the directions to most places are located by the mile-marker post along which they reside. These small green mile-markers start in Key West at 0 and continue North to Key Largo to about 106. The markers are a reference to the distance in miles from Key West.
The Marina is located at about mile-marker 91 or about 91 miles from Key West or 15 miles from the North end of Key Largo. So if your hotel is 10831 Overseas Highway, your hotel is at about mile marker 108, or about 15 miles from Tavernier Creek Marina at mm 91ish.
It takes about two hours from the Ft. Lauderdale airport or one and a half from the Miami International airport to get to our fishing departure spot. South (Tavernier/Islamorada) See the map above. Most times I depart from the
Tavernier Creek Marina at mile-marker 91, at the north end of Islamorada. Within the marina there is a tackle store called Chris' Bait and Tackle.. That's where you'll find me. Upon the Marina building facing the highway there are large letters reading Tavernier Creek Marina. Pull into the marina complex, There is a gate with a phone number attached to it.. If the gate is closed, call the number and tell them you have a fishing charter today. Once it opens, drive to the very end of the road to the tackle shop and park against the BLUE WALL on the RIGHT SIDE OF THE STREET PARALLEL TO THE HIGHWAY BRIDGE. DO NOT PARK IN THE 30 MINUTE PARKING SPOTS BY THE BOATS ON THE LEFT. Walk to the end of the road to the tackle shop. My skiff will be in the water by the fuel pumps and bait tanks right in front of the tackle shop. IF YOU HAVE DIFFICULTY FINDING THE TACKLE SHOP, CALL MY CELL PHONE (305) 393-2587. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT ALSO CALL ME ON THE EVENING BEFORE YOUR CHARTER BEFORE 8PM.

Drive to the end of the road and park against the blue wall on right side. Then walk to bait store 100 feet directly ahead.
Where should i stay while fishing with you?
Please note. I primarily fish the Upper Keys due to their proximity to the Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park. When booking a room, try and stay in the Key Largo or Islamorada area. IF you stay in Key West, It is approximately a two hour drive north to where we would meet to fish. If staying in Long Key, or Layton, it's 30 minutes away. Staying in Marathon? Plan on a forty five minute drive north. Staying in Miami ? Forty five minutes to one and a half hours south. The marina is about 1.75 hours south of Miami International airport or two hours from Ft. Lauderdale or Key West airport.
